Microsoft is actually a great Android developer - 'To-Do' is another reason why!

It may seem suprising to some, but Microsoft is actually a fantastic Android developer. In fact, I'd go as far to saythat their app offerings for Android are far superior to than their offerings for the Windows App store. For starters the full suite of Microsoft Office apps are great, as is one drive and one note, and the Arrow App Launcher is actually one of the best custom android skins available (seriously - check it out!).

To round this out, over the last few days Microsoft has released 'To-Do' which as you've guessed it - is a to-do list. It really could not be simpler - the app allows the creation of lists and then as part of each list allows tasks and items to be added.

The design is simple and clean, and a nice move away from the boxy interface design that still dominates some of the earlier Windows apps for android. It's fast, lightweight, cloud based (of course) and has a widget - so there is not much more you could ask for!

Of course there is lots of co…

Guitar Tapp

Today's app is Guitar Tapp.

This one won't suit everyone. For a start, if you don't play guitar (which probably rules out 80% of the worlds population) then this won't interest you at all. But, if you do play guitar, then Guitar Tapp could be just what you have been looking for!

Essentially, Guitar Tapp is a songbook in your pocket, with access to virtually every song ever written. For example, have you ever been at a party and someone wants you to play a song? (or you at least incorrectly though "hey, i bet everyone wants to hear me play guitar") Previously, you might grab the guitar and stumble through  a tune to the best of your ability, realising almost any can sound about 75% right with a C, G, Em, D progression played at varying speeds. However, to get it truly right (as you would know), you'd want to see the tabs, or at least the chords out in front of you. Right?

With Guitar Tapp, this can all be accomplished in a matter of seconds. Search for the song, choose what version you want to play (with many songs having bass tabs, guitar tabs, guitar chords, and a few other formats) then watch before your eyes as the chords or tabs materialise on the screen.

Once you have the song on the screen Guitar Tapp will let you Autoscroll, look up a chord chart, save songs to your SD (for fast retrieval at a later date, or at that camping trip where there is no 3G reception), transpose songs, rate songs, jam along with You Tube, watch video lessons and enjoy Facebook and Twitter integration!

Feature packed, Guitar Tapp is a must for anyone who enjoys belting out other peoples tunes! As a word of warning though, I guess it makes sense that this app is best suited for phones with a bit more screen real-estate!

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …
