Zite

Today's app of the day is Zite.

I seem to have a strange obsession to downloading and trying the best RSS reader for android. I currently seem to rotate through using Google Reader, Feedly, Pulse, Taptu, Google Currents and recently Flud. Although Feedly seems to be my most constant source for reading, it now has some stiff competition in the form of Zite.

Allegedly, Zite has been popular in iOS circles for a number of years now, but has only recently made the transition to Android. I am glad it has, because Zite is a great app. After a simple log in process that gives you the option to sync Google Reader and Twitter Accounts, users can then select "categories" to display in their personal magazine.

Once categories have been selected, it is a matter of swiping left and right to change categories, and up and down to browse through the content in a category (the individual articles). One of the things that impressed me most about Zite was the simplicity of the interface and the speed in which stories were loaded. It also did a great job of loading the full text from web-sites, removing the need to load up actual pages to read full articles.

In the short time I have had Zite installed it has impressed me more than many other RSS readers out their, and could give Feedly a run for its money as the most used app on  my phone. Give it a try - I doubt you will regret it!
