Microsoft is actually a great Android developer - 'To-Do' is another reason why!

It may seem suprising to some, but Microsoft is actually a fantastic Android developer. In fact, I'd go as far to saythat their app offerings for Android are far superior to than their offerings for the Windows App store. For starters the full suite of Microsoft Office apps are great, as is one drive and one note, and the Arrow App Launcher is actually one of the best custom android skins available (seriously - check it out!).

To round this out, over the last few days Microsoft has released 'To-Do' which as you've guessed it - is a to-do list. It really could not be simpler - the app allows the creation of lists and then as part of each list allows tasks and items to be added.

The design is simple and clean, and a nice move away from the boxy interface design that still dominates some of the earlier Windows apps for android. It's fast, lightweight, cloud based (of course) and has a widget - so there is not much more you could ask for!

Of course there is lots of co…

Droid Apps: The Best Word Games

One of the great things about word games is that you don't have to feel guilty about playing, for along with having some gaming fun, you are using your brain, too. Here is a list of the best word game applications for Android smartphones:
  • “Words With Friends” – “Words With Friends” is a multiplayer word game developed by Zynga. It is modeled after “Scrabble,” in which opponents take turns building crossword puzzles. It is fun, challenging, and is one of the most popular Droid app word games. It gained significant notoriety when Alec Baldwin was supposedly kicked off an American Airlines flight shortly before departure for refusing to turn off his mobile device as he was playing “Words With Friends.”
  • “WordsWorth” – “WordsWorth” is played by either tapping or dragging letters to form words. The point total that you get for creating words is dependent on the types of letters you are using, such as getting higher point totals from more rare letters like "q" or "z," as well as getting points for "buzzwords." You can play either alone or with online friends, chat with friends while you play, and choose from three different game modes: classic, timed and tumble.
  • “Moxie 2” – “Moxie 2,” an updated version of the original “Moxie,” gives a player a "hand" of 64 letters. Similar in nature to "Solitaire," a player goes through the letters and chooses whether to place the letters on the board or pass on them. A player receives points by transforming words into new words. While having a seemingly simple premise, “Moxie 2” has some depth to it as you try to get higher scores with calculated use of words.
  • “Word Ace” – “Word Ace” is a fusion between "Scrabble" and "Texas Hold 'em." The player forms words from letters with the added twist of a betting element. This face-paced multiplayer game with built-in friends lists, text chat, and a picture-based "emote" system, is easy, fun and a rewarding way to play a game with your friends.

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …
