Microsoft is actually a great Android developer - 'To-Do' is another reason why!

It may seem suprising to some, but Microsoft is actually a fantastic Android developer. In fact, I'd go as far to saythat their app offerings for Android are far superior to than their offerings for the Windows App store. For starters the full suite of Microsoft Office apps are great, as is one drive and one note, and the Arrow App Launcher is actually one of the best custom android skins available (seriously - check it out!).

To round this out, over the last few days Microsoft has released 'To-Do' which as you've guessed it - is a to-do list. It really could not be simpler - the app allows the creation of lists and then as part of each list allows tasks and items to be added.

The design is simple and clean, and a nice move away from the boxy interface design that still dominates some of the earlier Windows apps for android. It's fast, lightweight, cloud based (of course) and has a widget - so there is not much more you could ask for!

Of course there is lots of co…

Go Launcher HD

Today's app of the day is Go Launcher HD.

A number of months ago, I recommended Go Launcer Ex as my app of the day. Since then, the team at Go Launcher have been busy not only releasing constant updates for Go Launcher Ex (in my opinion, the best launcher for android mobiles), but have also been busy putting together Go Launcher HD for Android tablets.

After a few updates, Go Launcher HD is now at a point where it has replaced the stock ICS experience on my Asus Transformer Prime. Why? After using Go Launcher Ex on my phone, I got so used to resizing any and all widgets, that it began to feel restricting when not all widgets could be resized on my tablet. In addition, ICS limited me to 5 home screens, which never seemed quite enough. With Go Launcher HD, both these issues are a thing of the past - and in addition, it just "feels" like the entire experience is smoother and snappier (not that it ever really lagged on my TFP).

In addition to the above features, there are a few others that really make Go Launcher HD worth a try. For example, if you want it, each home screen can now feature a "dock" down the bottom that remains the same regardless of the screen. I find this really useful for keeping all my frequently used apps only a click away. Also, adding widgets, icons and shortcuts to your home screens in now even easier than on ICS, with a miniaturised view of the home screens quickly view-able, allowing the widgets and icons of your choosing to be easily thrown around the screen.

Finally, the standard features I now find necessary from Go Launcher Ex return, such as the ability to easily delete apps from the menu, simply by long pressing, and the ability to re-jig the number of icons that you have across the screen (i.e. 9 icons of width instead of 8). All in all, if you have a tablet, Go launcher HD is well worth a try.

In the words of the developer:

GO Launcher HD is the exclusive tablet version of GO Launcher EX on Android platform. It brings you with the fascinating interface, practical utilities, as well as extremely personalized and smooth operating experience.

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …
