Amazing Alex

Today's app of the day Amazing Alex.

If you have played The Incredible Machine before, you will know exactly what to expect when playing Amazing Alex. In short, Rovio's follow up to Angry Birds is another physics based puzzler, but instead of launching birds at pigs, you are are required to use a variety of household objects to collect 'stars', by hitting those objects with other objects.

Sounds a bit convoluted if you have not played a game like this before, but trust me, it is really quite simple. In fact, for the first 10 - 20 levels, you will wonder how a game like this is designed for anyone with a double digit IQ, but things quickly pick up, with the levels and challenge increasing in unison.

All the standard Rovio touches are head, including crisp graphics, sounds and presentation. In fact, anyone who has played Angry Birds will feel right at home with the presentation and level progression system (the good ol' 1 - 3 star system is back). At the end of the day, this is not going to shake up the mobile gaming market as much as Angry Birds did, and it is definitely not innovative, but then again neither was Angry Birds. This doesn't mean it isn't a good game though. Check it out.
