If you keep track of what you eat and how much exercise you do, then My Fitness Pal is the best app available to meet your needs. You can easily insert the calorie content of meals by browsing an enormous online database, or by simply scanning the barcode on a product. I am amazed at how rarely the app fails - even with obscure purchases!
You can also keep track of your exercise, by searching for your sport / exercise of choice, and simply entering the duration of your activity.
The goal of course, is weight loss (or gain I guess, If you are in that boat). For this, My Fitness Pal allows you to enter your weight as frequently as you want making it easy to track your progress. If you are looking at getting fit, staying fit, or even to learn about how much energy you are actually eating and burning on a daily basis, then you can not go past My Fitness Pal!
