Microsoft is actually a great Android developer - 'To-Do' is another reason why!

It may seem suprising to some, but Microsoft is actually a fantastic Android developer. In fact, I'd go as far to saythat their app offerings for Android are far superior to than their offerings for the Windows App store. For starters the full suite of Microsoft Office apps are great, as is one drive and one note, and the Arrow App Launcher is actually one of the best custom android skins available (seriously - check it out!).

To round this out, over the last few days Microsoft has released 'To-Do' which as you've guessed it - is a to-do list. It really could not be simpler - the app allows the creation of lists and then as part of each list allows tasks and items to be added.

The design is simple and clean, and a nice move away from the boxy interface design that still dominates some of the earlier Windows apps for android. It's fast, lightweight, cloud based (of course) and has a widget - so there is not much more you could ask for!

Of course there is lots of co…

Battle Space

Today's app of the day is Battle Space.

If you have played the classic Hasbro game, Battleship, then you will feel right at home play Battle Space, a new spin off of the game by Pwnage Software. The concept is roughly the same, but Battle Space features a few innovative twists on the game, and great online features, that make it a worthy addition to your android device.

After booting up the game, users will be forced to login to the application to start playing. Conveniently, Battle Space features Facebook integration which makes signing in a breeze. For users not wanting to use Facebook, it is also possible to sign in using a generic username and password.
Once logged in, there are a variety of game modes. The best place to start would probably be “Computer Training” which is essentially a single player mode verse computer AI. This will be a good way for new players to learn the ropes.

This brings us down to the actual gameplay. In its simplistic sense, it is identical to Battleship (albeit on a larger grid), in which users take it in turns to launch missiles at the opponents grid in hope that it will hit a craft. A successful hit earns another shot. What separates this game from the Battleship is the innovative power-ups that can be selected by players to turbocharge their hunting ability.
In addition to the Vs Computer modes, players can jump in a queue to play against other players, and track their progress on an online leader board. There are also friends lists so you can easily see who of your buddies is online so a game can be quickly initiated. All in all, this is an excellent android app that will only become better as more people begin to compete online.

In the words of the developers:

If you like Battleship then you'll be blown away by Battle Space. This is a spin off the classic game Battleship with a few enhancements. Hone your skills by practicing with the AI and when you're ready queue up and play with people from all over the world or with your friends. Find special power-ups scattered across the battlefield and use them wisely to defeat your opponent. Check the leaderboards to see who is really the best commander of the fleets and service record to show off to your fellow captains. Come and see where you rank in space!
* Please note that this is still a beta build and as such a work in progress. Not all features are implemented but stick around because there is lots more to come. Please help us make this a better game with your comments and feedback info@pwnagesoftware.com.

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …

UNCHARTED: Fortune Hunter - continue Drake's adventure on your phone!

It's been a while now since Uncharted 4 was released though to date it is still one of the best games on the PS4. At the time of its release, a lot of people might not have noticed that an Android entry into the Uncharted series was also released. Now I'm late to the party on this one but I think it's well worth checking out - better late than never!

The game is in the style of the 'Go' games that are really popular, such as Hitman Go and Lara Croft Go. The gameplay sees you move from square to square on a map trying to unlock a series of objectives or reach a destination. It's a polished game with great sound, graphics and gameplay. Strongly recommended!
