FaceApp - despite the controversy there's a reason it is popular!

FaceApp is high in the ranks of then Google Play store at the moment, and despite the controversies of white-washing, there's a reason. In short, it's really fun, simple to use and an all round well-designed app that has some great filters and effects.
The purpose of the app is simple - simply load it up, take a photo, play with a few dials and then before you know it there's your desired outcome - whether it be a new gender, a younger self, an older self - etc. You name it - FaceApp can do it.
Check it out today, it's one of those apps well worth downloading and spending a few minutes with!

Today's app of the day is DigiCal

For all Android users, the calendar is likely a commonly used application on their devices. Unfortunately, the default calendar offerings by Google are less than perfect, and many third party options feel clunky and far from perfect.

Luckily, DigiCal (or DigiCal+ if you do not like ads) has arrived, providing Android users with a great reason to switch their default calendar application. Starting up front, one of the best features of DigiCal is the variety of widgets available. For me, widgets are integral in any calendar application, and DigiCal features a variety of sizes and customisation abilities so users can chose their own individual look and feel.

Widgets aside, the actual calendar itself is also very intuitive, with 5 views possible (day, week, agenda, month and list). One of the best features is landscape mode (see screenshots below), which allows you to have both a calendar and an agenda on the screen at the same time. This was a very useful combination, and looks fantastic on the screens of tablets or larger devices.

Besides functionality, DigiCal looks great, with a clean and crisp interface that manages to pack a lot of information on the screen in a stylish way. It also features built in location support, and support for Google Now, which is great for users lucky enough to be using Jelly Bean.

Getting around DigiCal is intuitive, with swiping and pinch to zoom both enables, and undertaking simple tasks such as adding new events or looking at existing events is a breeze. Looking at current events is particularly effective in DigiCal though the aid of a stylish pop up box (once you try the app you will see what I mean).

Finally, but also importantly, DigiCal features full syncronisation with Google Calendar, allowing you to install the app on all your devices and stay connected and synced wherever you go or work. All in all, DigiCal is a great calendar app for Android devices, worthy of your install!

In the words of the developer:

DigiCal is a stylish and easy to use calendar application that syncs all your appointment with Google Calendar. You can choose from five powerful calendar views (day, week, agenda, month and list) in both portrait and landscape mode for an optimal user experience. Following the latest Android Holo Light theme, DigiCal is bringing the clean and intuitive user interface experience to smartphones and tablets running the Android versions 2.2 or higher. DigiCal also comes with a beautiful list style widget in sizes between 2x2 to 4x4, with neat shortcuts to common tasks.

DigiCal’s innovative features such as the smart action bar make it easy to edit, move, copy, paste and delete events. With our unique built-in location search, adding a location to your event has never been easier. All you need to do is type in the name of the place (cafe, store, park) and DigiCal will automatically look up the address and save it. With this feature, Google Now (Android 4.1+) knows where you'll need to go. It'll watch current traffic, plan your route and notify you when you should leave.

An event pop-up will appear with detailed information, when an event is selected in the day, week and agenda views, this allows you to easily go through all your events without the need of opening and closing the pop-up for every individual event. Gestures like pinch to zoom and swipe to navigate are also supported. For example, you can quickly go through the dates in all the calendar views by swiping left or right.

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Cosmic Cow

Today's app of the day is Cosmic Cow.

"Endless" games are very in vogue at the moment, whether it be endless running, endless jumping or endless flapping, there are plenty of ways to get unlimited, and challenging gaming fixes. That doesn't mean that there aren't great new games being created in the genre, with Cosmic Cow being one such example.

In essence, Cosmic Cow combines two great styles of game play, one being a side scrolling endless-type game, and the other being the classic side scrolling space ship shooter, popularised in numerous incarnations on 8 and 16 bit consoles of decades past. As a "cosmic cow" (can't help but love it!), the player has to navigate through space, shooting or dodging asteroids and other attacking spaceships. The cow can collect a variety of objects to earn points - though mainly interesting foods that just happen to be floating through space. As points are accumulated, the player can also collect coins to spend on a v…
