FaceApp - despite the controversy there's a reason it is popular!

FaceApp is high in the ranks of then Google Play store at the moment, and despite the controversies of white-washing, there's a reason. In short, it's really fun, simple to use and an all round well-designed app that has some great filters and effects.
The purpose of the app is simple - simply load it up, take a photo, play with a few dials and then before you know it there's your desired outcome - whether it be a new gender, a younger self, an older self - etc. You name it - FaceApp can do it.
Check it out today, it's one of those apps well worth downloading and spending a few minutes with!

loc.ae

Today's app of the day is loc.ae

One of the greatest things about mobile devices, and the ever growing library of mobile games, is that it is encouraging new types of innovation as to how games are actually played, and even, what is meant by the phrase 'game'. Examples such as Run! Zombie Run, have meant that even undertaking everyday tasks (such as going for a jog), are now ‘gamified’. Continuing this trend, and trying to take it to the next level is loc.ae, a "massively multiplayer, location aware arcade game".

Scratching your head? In short, think of loc.ae as Bomberman, but instead of controlling a tiny arcade figure on the screen, you are the arcade figure. Still confused? Put simply, the object of loc.ae is to locate other logged in players and drop bombs near them. If they are hit by the explosion, you gain credits and they lose credits. Credits earned can then be used to buy upgrades and in game items.

Loc.ae is still in Beta and there aren't a huge amo…

KlearKeys Transparent Keyboard

Today's app of the day is KlearKeys Transparent Keyboard.

Do you often find that when using the default android keyboard (or most other keyboards offered by third party developers), that the keys take up 80% of your screen, leaving only a tiny rectangle to view what is happening on the device. This might be OK for occasional text entry, but when you are using software or a website that requires more frequent or constant text entry, it really does take away from the user experience.

The solution is an excellent Android app called KlearKeys Transparent Keyboard. On top of being highly customisable, its primary selling point is the fact that is can me made transparent so that you can see what is happening 'behind' the keys. The transparency can range from entirely see through, to more 'shaded', the freedom is entirely up to the user.

In addition, KlearKeys features great customisation, including the ability to create split keyboards (half on each side of the screen), fu…

Hisab - who owes whom!

Today's app of the day is Hisab.

Do you have a group of friends where money is constantly being swapped hands, with everyone owing each other amounts of varying quantities at almost all times? Find it hard to keep track of how much you are owed, how much you owe someone else, and whether it has been paid back?

If so, then Hisab (translated as 'to calculate' in Hindi) is the app for you. Once installed, you can easily add new 'debts' and see how much is owed to you, or how much you owe others. No more writing things in note applications or in your diary, or trying to remember your debts and never getting paid back.

With Hisab - you will be on top of your money and be able to ensure you keep account of all you incomings and outgoings. All in all, an excellent Android app!

In the words of the developer:

Ever found hard to track money in your friend circle?

WhatsApp Messenger

Today's app of the day is WhatsApp Messenger.

There are a wide range of free messaging options available for Android users in today's modern app eco-system. Whether it be Facebook Messenger, Google Messenger or chat programs such as Kik or Viber, there are countless options available to allow you to communicate with your friends over data networks for free (well, if you count minimal data usage as free).

At the end of the days, users are spoilt for choice, but through all this one application has managed to remain at the forefront of the free messaging revolution, and in my opinion, is still the stand out contender for someone looking to reduce their SMS usage. This application is WhatsApp Messenger and it can be downloaded here.

What sets WhatsApp apart from the competition is its simplicity. There is no need to sign up and create complicated pins or avatars, there is no need to included bloated profile and complicated buddy lists, trying to remember UserID's, etc. All yo…

Jungle Jumper Free

Today's app of the day is Jungle Jumper

Jungle Jumper is an excellent android app, well worth checking out. In short, it takes the classic gameplay elements of games such as Temple Dash and Agent Dash and Subway Surfer, and moves them onto a top-down 2 dimensional plane. The results are great, with crisp smooth graphics, good sounds and some excellent gameplay that, expectedly, starts off easy but quickly becomes challenging enough to keep you coming back for more. As with all these ‘continuous runner’ style games, Jungle Jumper features that ‘just one more try’ type of addictiveness that makes it difficult to put down. If you are after a great little game to fill in time on the bus or train, then check out Jungle Jumper!

In the words of the developer:

You don’t have to be big to be brave! The little mouse Jorvis is out exploring the jungle which is very fun but dangerous and he
wants you to join him on his adventure. He constantly has to watch out for bats, snakes
and other animals a…

Defend Thy King

Today's app of the day is Defend Thy King.

Defend Thy King is an excellent app for your Android device, with its roots firmly hinged in the Tower Defence style of gameplay. Instead of choosing turrets to shoot incoming hordes of enemies though, Defend Thy King requires users to actually take aim and shoot attackers themselves. This results in some frantic gameplay, with the user tapping all over the screen as the intensity and strength of adversaries increases. Luckily, between levels users can upgrade their weaponry and skills, making it easier to “Defend Thy Castle”.

I really enjoyed this game, and found myself hooked with it ‘just one more level’ form of addictiveness. There are a few nice quirks thrown in such as bonus treasure chests and ‘rare birds’ both of which give bonus coins. These don’t make much sense out of context, but give the game a try and they will.

All in all, a great app, well worth playing.

In the words of the developer:

With roots in the Tower Defense & Castle…
