FaceApp - despite the controversy there's a reason it is popular!

FaceApp is high in the ranks of then Google Play store at the moment, and despite the controversies of white-washing, there's a reason. In short, it's really fun, simple to use and an all round well-designed app that has some great filters and effects.
The purpose of the app is simple - simply load it up, take a photo, play with a few dials and then before you know it there's your desired outcome - whether it be a new gender, a younger self, an older self - etc. You name it - FaceApp can do it.
Check it out today, it's one of those apps well worth downloading and spending a few minutes with!

Jungle Cubs Live

Today's app of the day is Jungle Cubs Live.

Jungle Cubs Live is an excellent live wallpaper for your Android device from CreativeX Software. There are numerous scenes to choose from, but the basic premise involves a number of lion cubs running around the jungle, or sleeping. There are also a number of butterflies that flutter across the screen.

The overall aesthetic is very pleasing, with the level of movement not being too distracting, and the actual colours of the wallpapers working well with most widget and icon combinations. Further, the number of cubs and butterflies can be increased or decreased as you please, so if more movement is what you are after, the option is yours.

Finally, the wallpaper is not a video, meaning you battery will be largely spared. Further, the wallpaper works great on phones and tablets alike, including those with the default setting  as landscape mode. All in all, this is an excellent live wallpaper, well worth checking out.

e-path: the game

Today's app of the day is e-path.

E-path is a great new puzzle game for Android devices that should find a place in the hearts of anyone who enjoys a good challenge. As with all good mobile games, the concept behind e-path is very simple, but the execution and options really expand the challenge to keep players coming back for more.

In short, the object it to more a ball (the e-ball) around a grid from the start to the finish. Along the way, the ball has to land on every square of the grid at least once, which 'powers it up'. If any squares are not powered up, then in short, you lose.

This sounds simple enough, but the gameplay increases in difficulty through blocks, free squares which you can move through, teleports, or even squares which expel fire in an attempt to harm the e-ball. There are two basic gameplay modes - the general 'origin' mode which has the player move around a single grid, and the 'teleport' mode which sees the player jump between a number …

Air Soccer Fever

Today's app of the day is Air Soccer Fever.

Air Soccer Fever is a great new casual soccer game for Android devices that provides real-time online multiplayer capabilities in one on one battles for the most goals. It has been a great success for the Windows platform, going as far as winning Microsoft competitions and being picked up by Sony as a showcase game for their latest table top hardware Sony Vaio Tap 20. Luckily, it has recently been Android and released a beta version is now available on Google Play to try. After installing the app, it quickly became apparent to me why this has been so popular on the Windows mobile platform - in short, it is an excellent app!
Gameplay involves two players taking it in turn to swipe their ball into the opposing players goal. The amount of time available to take a shot is limited, so if you aren't paying attention the shot clock will run out and your opponent will get another shot. This may sound convoluted in practice, but the best way to …

Bad Bad Rats

"Today's app of the day is Bad Bad Rats.

Bad Bad Rats is a great game from a new developer called Handy Apes. The game takes the classic "Fruit Ninja" or "Fruit Slice" formula and improves it. So what are you slicing? Well it is a quirky concept of "bad rats", throwing various items to try an destroy flowers. The players task is to protect the flowers. Not only does it mix up the object you are 'slicing' (because at the end of the day fruit is pretty dull), but it really livens up the entire experience, with great vivid colours and excellent sound, combo slices and special bonus zones.

The core gameplay progression is also different, with level structure taking more "Angry Birds" style approach to progression where the player has to survive waves of attach from various object, whilst trying not to lose three lives. In short, the better you perform, the more stars you will earn for a a level.

There are plenty of levels and with free…

Angry Birds Star Wars

Today's app of the day is Angry Birds Star Wars

You would struggle to find a person on earth who has not heard of Angry Birds, and likewise, you would probably find it even more difficult to find someone who had not heard of StarWars. Arguably, the most iconic mobile game ever, and the most iconic film franchise of all time. Why not combine them to create the greatest mobile game based on a film franchise... possible ever?

That is exactly what Rovi has accomplished in it's latest iteration of the Angry Birds franchise - Angry Birds Star Wars. Although the core game mechanics remain unchanged from the very first iteration, the Star Wars release includes a mash up of some of the best elements from previous entries, notably the space levels from Angry Birds Space. These levels are a great addition to the standard Angry Birds gameplay and really mix up the level structure.

The game is probably the best looking Angry Birds to date, with the level of detail in the environments far surp…

Match Not Mix

Today's app of the day is Match Not Mix.

Match Not Mix is the classic game of memory, with a slight twist. For the easy, medium and even hard levels, your memory and patience will truly be tested, but the game really takes the difficulty to new extremes when the "harder, hardest and extreme" levels are given a try. Trust me, this will even take those of you with photographic memories a good chunk of time to complete - with one layer of tiles, but three to clear.

The game looks fantastic, with bright colours and a clean menu layout. In fact, for those users who have an affinity with the Windows 8 Modern UI, this should really appeal. Animations are smooth and looked great on both my phone and tablet.

All in all, if you want a simple game to keep your memory sharp, but want to challenge yourself with varying difficulty levels, Match Not Mix is an excellent choice!

In the words of the developer:

Test your brains memory with this not so ordinary game of Memory. Breeze past the e…
