Netflix and Android - chromecast, downloading, profiles - close to perfection!

Netflix and Android have always had a great relationship, but over recent years the app has really gone from strength to strength. The interface is fantastic and the feature set continues to grow in meaningful ways, making it one of my must-have apps.
The first example that comes to mind is obviously Chromecast support. Now this isn’t a Netflix exclusive option, and it is supported well in many media apps, but Netflix and Chromecast work so seamlessly well together that I struggle to think about how I survived before the pairing existed!
Next is the newly integrated ‘Download’ option, which allows users to download content and watch it on the go without a data connection.  Honestly, Netflix kicked it out of the park with this one – it could not be easier to use, it includes all the right settings (save to SD, definition quality control, etc) – and best of all it is all within the existing price brackets. I almost feel they could have charged extra for this service alone – but am ext…

Checkin Reminder

Today’s app of the day is Checkin Reminder.

As any Foursquare user will be able to relate to, the most difficult learning curve of the Social Network is simply remembering to use it. In today's hectic world of social networks and notifications, it can often be difficult to keep on top of the plenitude of applications that are screaming for your attention and asking you to check in, rate or comment about a location or venue.

To help work around this problem, the developers of Checkin Reminder have created an Android application that utilises a smart algorithm to notify users when they arrive or stop at specific locations, all with the goal of encouraging users to check in with Foursquare.

You could imagine this would be a problem, as check in points exist literally everywhere  meaning your phone may be constantly beeping, but luckily a unique feature of Checkin Reminder is that its detection is very accurate, with the GPS only utilised intelligently, saving both battery life and your ears from constant updates.  This is especially useful for those who want to be a Foursquare master and can not afford a flat battery half way through a day!

Specifically, this app provides the following features:

1. Smart reminder: detecting users' stay at a place and notify them to check in.

2. 1-Click checkin with a suggested venue - something that I found to be a very handy function.

3. Great battery performance.

4. Foursquare mayorship monitoring: each user can setup a favorite venue list and check his/her mayorship status. (This feature will also greatly benefit lots of Mayor fighters, we believe).

5. Simple checkin function at the front page.

6. Flexible notification settings.

Best of all, Checkin Reminder is both free, and ad free, and now the app has upgraded to version 3.0, it is very stable. With over 1000 installs and counting, plus a positive reception from the Foursquare community, there is no reason not to download Checkin Reminder. All in all, an excellent Android App!

In the words of the developer:

This app is for those who wanna be a Foursquare master!

Inspired by some of our friends' complaint about always forgetting to check in at Foursquare. We present this neat app to give you a great Check-In experience.

Our app CheckinReminder provides the following unique features:

Intelligently detecting your stay in a venue
User-friendly checkin notifications
1-click check-in (Quick Checkin Mode)
Mayorship monitoring through a favorite venue list
Great battery performance through sensor management

**How to use CheckInReminder**

Link CheckinReminder with your Foursquare account. You are ready to go.
If you stay at a place for more than a certain time, our app will be able to detect this. A notification will pop up when you are leaving the place.
Click the notification to check in the recommended place immediately, or click the 'Search Around' button if you prefer a different place.
Different notification types are provided.

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …
