Microsoft is actually a great Android developer - 'To-Do' is another reason why!

It may seem suprising to some, but Microsoft is actually a fantastic Android developer. In fact, I'd go as far to saythat their app offerings for Android are far superior to than their offerings for the Windows App store. For starters the full suite of Microsoft Office apps are great, as is one drive and one note, and the Arrow App Launcher is actually one of the best custom android skins available (seriously - check it out!).

To round this out, over the last few days Microsoft has released 'To-Do' which as you've guessed it - is a to-do list. It really could not be simpler - the app allows the creation of lists and then as part of each list allows tasks and items to be added.

The design is simple and clean, and a nice move away from the boxy interface design that still dominates some of the earlier Windows apps for android. It's fast, lightweight, cloud based (of course) and has a widget - so there is not much more you could ask for!

Of course there is lots of co…

Wide Mouth Frog Storybook Free

Today's app of the day is Wide Mouth Frog Storybook Free.

Wide Mouth Frog is an interactive story book that offers a great experience for both kids, and their parents alike. I have not delved too deeply into the world of interactive books before, but being one of my first forays, Wide Mouth Frog impressed.

The reader is presented firstly with a simple clean menu, where there is a choice to either reads the book, or play a simple arcade game. The core element of this product is of course the book, and it is great.

The illustrations and animations are bright and colorful, and the narrator reads at a good, clear pace. One element I am sure kids will love is the interactivity of the animations. Touch the frog and he croaks, touch a flower and it moves, etc. I am sure kids will find countless hours of surprises in this book!

Not only is this a great entertainment tool, but for slightly older children it is also a great form of education, as words can be touched to be spoken out loud. This allow for example, the author to read the book once, then the child to try and read it back with the assistance of touching the words. Best of all, the pace is up to the reader, with page turns having to take place through a manual tap.

Once the book has been read, Wide Mouth Frog also features a simple arcade game called "Buggy Snacks". This is a simple 'tap' based game, where you have to tap as many bugs in a limited time period. It looks simple but it surprisingly addictive and adds to what is already a great package.

All in all, this is a fantastic android app, and worth a download for anyone with children!

In the words of the developer/author:

Wide Mouth Frog is tired of eating the bugs his mother feeds him every day, so the curious frog hops through the zoo to find out what the other animal mothers feed their babies. He discovers that what is good for some animals is not necessarily good for Wide Mouth Frogs. Much to his dismay, he finds that one animal in particular likes to eat something that is definitely not good for Wide Mouth Frogs!

Follow Wide Mouth Frog on his adventure in the zoo as you listen to the narration of this whimsical tale and interact with various surprises along the way. Then for some real froggy adventures of your own, tackle the Buggy Snacks game. enter at your own risk-there are dangers!

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …
