Netflix and Android - chromecast, downloading, profiles - close to perfection!

Netflix and Android have always had a great relationship, but over recent years the app has really gone from strength to strength. The interface is fantastic and the feature set continues to grow in meaningful ways, making it one of my must-have apps.
The first example that comes to mind is obviously Chromecast support. Now this isn’t a Netflix exclusive option, and it is supported well in many media apps, but Netflix and Chromecast work so seamlessly well together that I struggle to think about how I survived before the pairing existed!
Next is the newly integrated ‘Download’ option, which allows users to download content and watch it on the go without a data connection.  Honestly, Netflix kicked it out of the park with this one – it could not be easier to use, it includes all the right settings (save to SD, definition quality control, etc) – and best of all it is all within the existing price brackets. I almost feel they could have charged extra for this service alone – but am ext…

Audio Mode Switcher

Today's app of the Day is Audio Mode Switcher.

I am sure it has happened to almost everyone - you are in an important meeting, or even just sitting at your desk, and suddenly your phone starts ringing obnoxiously loud. Sure, it is an easy problem to fix - you simply put your phone on silent - but at the end of the day, even the easiest of solutions can more than often, be overlooked by the average person.

That is where an app such as Audio Mode Switcher comes into play, automating the audio modes of your phone so you are never caught out again. There are a number of ways in which you can achieve this. The first is a simply recurring mode, in which specific times can be set for your phone to have various audio settings. I found this to be the most simplistic, and probably the most useful, because unfortunately, we can pretty reliably guess during what hours we will be at work almost every day of our life.

Other great features include the calendar mode (which looks in your calendar and automatically changes your tones based on the event) and location mode, which determines where you are located and changes your tones accordingly. This is a great feature for those who really want to have complete automation but may have a job that sees them in and out of the office at great frequency.

On top of being feature packed, this app looks great, taking advantage of the notification panel to update on changed audio modes, and having a clean, fast and intuitive user interface. All in all, an excellent android app!

 In the words of the developer:

Tired of your phone ringing in the middle of the night? I’m sure you know the situation when your phone rings out loud when staying in a quiet place (e.g. classroom, office,...), because you have forgotten to mute your phone.
Have you ever missed important calls because you have forgotten to un-mute your mobile phone? You need Audio Mode Switcher!
Just define when the audio mode of your phone should be loud, vibrate or silent . Then, the app will do the rest for you.Audio Mode was designed to be easy to use and is absolutely free!Switch to loud, vibrate or silent mode according to:
- weekly recurring times,
- calendar events or
- your current location

* Weekly recurring times
This feature is very simple: you can define multiple times and the according ringer mode. This switching-times are scheduled weekly. For example you can define different times for weekends etc.
* Calendar based
You can automatically switch the audio mode of your phone during events defined in your phones calendar. Use it to mute you phone during movies, dates, meetings etc. and then unmuting the phone when the meeting ends.
You select the events with simple filters (keywords in the event title and/or a specific calendar) and choose the audio mode that should be set during these events.
* Location based
The easiest solution is to switch your ringer mode according to your current location. For example you switch to vibrate mode if you are at your working place and to loud mode if you are at home.
Audio Mode switcher uses phone masts and GPS to determine your location. However if you want to save battery it also works fine without enabled GPS (Note: In ural areas GPS is not necessary. If you don’t live in a populated area GPS is recommended to achieve a higher accuracy)
Overall, Audio Mode Switcher is a useful and nice app for automatically silencing your phone. It will by greatly appreciated by classmates, working colleagues and anyone else who doesn’t want to hear your phone!** Find FAQs at ** ** Why all the permissions?

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …
