Netflix and Android - chromecast, downloading, profiles - close to perfection!

Netflix and Android have always had a great relationship, but over recent years the app has really gone from strength to strength. The interface is fantastic and the feature set continues to grow in meaningful ways, making it one of my must-have apps.
The first example that comes to mind is obviously Chromecast support. Now this isn’t a Netflix exclusive option, and it is supported well in many media apps, but Netflix and Chromecast work so seamlessly well together that I struggle to think about how I survived before the pairing existed!
Next is the newly integrated ‘Download’ option, which allows users to download content and watch it on the go without a data connection.  Honestly, Netflix kicked it out of the park with this one – it could not be easier to use, it includes all the right settings (save to SD, definition quality control, etc) – and best of all it is all within the existing price brackets. I almost feel they could have charged extra for this service alone – but am ext…

Today's app of the day is Watson.

If you live a life that finds you timing lots of different things, that Watson is the ultimate stopwatch and timer application currently available in the Google Play store. Whether it be in the kitchen, the gym, on an athletics oval, or even for work purposes, there are plenty of reasons to not only record the amount of time it takes to achieve tasks, but then to be able to easily retrieve those times as a comparable record.
Watson allows all this and more, making it the most feature packed timing app available. The first thing you will notice upon loading the application is the fantastic user interface. Watson consists of multiple tabs that you can use to break all your timings into different catagories. Under each category you can have an endless number of timers running. It looks great, is easy to navigate, and is simple to set up.
Timers can be stopped and started without affecting anything else under the different tabs, and even when the application is turned off the timers can continue to operate (without the use of an android service, so there is no battery drain!).
Finally, for those of us who are meticulous record keepers, previous timings can be exported to WhenDidI, allowing you to keep a permanent record of your activity. Check out the screenshots below and you will get an idea of some of the many uses of Watson. All in all, an excellent android app!

In the words of the developer:

Watson is a multiple stopwatch and timer application using an intuitive page view layout. Each page can represent a different category, e.g. cooking, exercise, work, games.

There is no limit to number of pages you can have, and you can place multiple stopwatches or timers per page. You can start, stop each stopwatch or timer individually, or all at the same time. Each stopwatch or timer can be easily identified as you can set a unique title for each one. Stopwatches and timers are stored in a database, so you can exit the application, even reboot your phone or tablet they will still be running when you start the app again. The application does not use a service, so there no battery drain when the application is not in view. You can also publish you stopwatch times to the whendidi application, letting you gather a history of your timings, and making it easy to track your progress. Note this application is ad-supported, which can be removed by purchasing the WatsonKey.

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …
