Microsoft is actually a great Android developer - 'To-Do' is another reason why!

It may seem suprising to some, but Microsoft is actually a fantastic Android developer. In fact, I'd go as far to saythat their app offerings for Android are far superior to than their offerings for the Windows App store. For starters the full suite of Microsoft Office apps are great, as is one drive and one note, and the Arrow App Launcher is actually one of the best custom android skins available (seriously - check it out!).

To round this out, over the last few days Microsoft has released 'To-Do' which as you've guessed it - is a to-do list. It really could not be simpler - the app allows the creation of lists and then as part of each list allows tasks and items to be added.

The design is simple and clean, and a nice move away from the boxy interface design that still dominates some of the earlier Windows apps for android. It's fast, lightweight, cloud based (of course) and has a widget - so there is not much more you could ask for!

Of course there is lots of co…

Ringpost

Today's app of the day is Ringpost.

Thanks to the boom of smart phone technology over the last decade -  posting to social networks has become easier than ever. Unfortunately, listing almost all social network applications is dependent on having a data connection. This is where things can often become problematic, with there still being plenty of places without good data reception all around the world.

This is where Ringpost steps in, utilizing your phones 'mobile' reception, instead of 'data' connection to allow you to post to social networks. In short, you can post when you are offline, in places where this was previously not possible. Best of all it is 100% free, not costing you in calls or data, even when you are roaming overseas.

You can post to a wide range of networks, and can post both pre-defined messages and images, or even create your own message and use your own photos. The system works by making an unanswered call to the Ringpost database. The manner of the call corresponds to the message you want to post, and within seconds your message will be 'online' - even though you are offline.

This is an innovative approach to social networking, and will be a godsend for those in areas of poor reception who want to keep their social presence alive. All in all, an excellent android app!

In the words of the developer:

Write your message. Add an image. Share with friends. Even offline.
ringpost offers a unique capability that allows users to post on their favorite social network, without the need for any data connectivity... so totally free of charges from their mobile network provider or internet service provider.
This unique app makes use of the patented principle of 'dialing a predefined phone number that corresponds with a specific message or image, without actually answering the phone call'. As a result, ringpost merely requires mobile phone coverage to place a short single outbound (unanswered) call to instantly complete the user’s social network post.
This free app offers a great variety of predefined or custom messages and images to select from. In this release, ringpost supports online and offline posting on Facebook and Twitter*. More social networks will be implemented soon, including Google+, QQ, Pinterest, Tumblr & more.
The app’s benefits are huge for many audiences, including kids without mobile data, backpackers out of data coverage, as well as international business travelers seeking to avoid roaming costs.
Experience ringpost yourself and be sure to stay in touch with all of your friends and family in your social network without being dependent on internet access.
*online only.
This version includes:
+ In app purchase to choose from extra pictures (Love, Acronym, Animals, Signs, Travel, Cartoon, etc).
+ In app purchase to upload extra pictures and camera photos to select from.

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …
