Microsoft is actually a great Android developer - 'To-Do' is another reason why!

It may seem suprising to some, but Microsoft is actually a fantastic Android developer. In fact, I'd go as far to saythat their app offerings for Android are far superior to than their offerings for the Windows App store. For starters the full suite of Microsoft Office apps are great, as is one drive and one note, and the Arrow App Launcher is actually one of the best custom android skins available (seriously - check it out!).

To round this out, over the last few days Microsoft has released 'To-Do' which as you've guessed it - is a to-do list. It really could not be simpler - the app allows the creation of lists and then as part of each list allows tasks and items to be added.

The design is simple and clean, and a nice move away from the boxy interface design that still dominates some of the earlier Windows apps for android. It's fast, lightweight, cloud based (of course) and has a widget - so there is not much more you could ask for!

Of course there is lots of co…

Ultimate Car Dock

Today's app of the day is Ultimate Car Dock.

Using a mobile device whilst driving is never an easy take, and in many instances, is now illegal. A change in the law however, doesn't necessarily co-relate to a change in the need to use mobile devices whilst driving, with this problem become more prevalent as our phones become smarter. Our mobiles are now our stereos, maps and communication hubs, meaning that often whilst driving, they are needed more than ever. Their interfaces however are not generally intuitive for ease of use whilst driving, which is where Ultimate Car Dock steps in.

Ultimate Car Dock is intended to solve this problem, through the inclusion of voice navigation. Google Now and Siri have demonstrated that phones can function quite effective through voice control - and Ultimate Car Dock takes that core capability but focuses it around achieving driving related tasks. With Ultimate Car Dock you can completely remove the need to touch, or even look at your device whilst driving. It is intended to be a complete hands free experience!

You can have your messages read out aloud to you, reply to texts using your voice, answer calls, make calls, control navigation functionality and even start and stop your music. To get started, you will need to select which applications you want to be able to be able to easily access using Ultimate Car Dock. The app includes space for over 30 apps to be added, which should be more than enough!

From there is is simply a matter of familiarizing yourself with the relevant voice controls (easily learnt from a practical 'help' menu), and then to go for a drive! With the ability to try the app for free for 7 days, you have no reason not to give Ultimate Car Dock a try!

In the words of the developer:

Receiving Calls and Text :
When the app is running, incoming calls are announced. You simply respond vocally when prompted to either answer, or reject the call. Your phone automatically goes into speaker mode when calls are answered.
You also have the option to reject a call, and respond vocally with a text message.
Incoming sms text messages are are read out loud to you. You can reply by voice, no need to touch, or look at your phone.
Initiating Calls, Text, and other applications :
There is a power saving sleep mode, just touch the screen anywhere to give a voice command, for example “Send Text to Jane” ... “Call Jane” .. “Navigate to Seattle.”
Sending sms text messages by voice is easy, just say “text contact” the app will ask you to speak your message, and give you the option to verify the text before sending.
Call anyone, just say “call ” and name of your contact, the call is placed, and the sound is automatically set to loud speaker.
There is a help section built into the app, but if you need any assistance or have any problems then please email us, we will do our level best to help.
Please Note:
Some 3rd party SMS apps can block any other app from receiving text messages ! If you are having any issues with this just drop us an email ( and we will assist you.

SMS permissions: Needed to receive text messages, read the messages out loud, and allow you to respond via voice.

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …
