Microsoft is actually a great Android developer - 'To-Do' is another reason why!

It may seem suprising to some, but Microsoft is actually a fantastic Android developer. In fact, I'd go as far to saythat their app offerings for Android are far superior to than their offerings for the Windows App store. For starters the full suite of Microsoft Office apps are great, as is one drive and one note, and the Arrow App Launcher is actually one of the best custom android skins available (seriously - check it out!).

To round this out, over the last few days Microsoft has released 'To-Do' which as you've guessed it - is a to-do list. It really could not be simpler - the app allows the creation of lists and then as part of each list allows tasks and items to be added.

The design is simple and clean, and a nice move away from the boxy interface design that still dominates some of the earlier Windows apps for android. It's fast, lightweight, cloud based (of course) and has a widget - so there is not much more you could ask for!

Of course there is lots of co…

Today's app of the day is Habitfier.

Do you find that you cannot stick to a routine or maintain New Year resolutions? This is an app designed to give consistency and helps you keep track of the habits you want to keep -  like 50 pushups a day or two 30 minute sessions of reading a week. Habitifier follow the assumption that allowing yourself flexibility to go further and build a surplus for future weeks gives more motivation. This allows users to relax when they need to, and to actually get more work done when it is necessary!

Check it out and see what you think - see if you can get your habits under control! Why not install Habitifier and use it to keep track of your new years resolutions and actually make them stick!

Habitifier - all in all, an excellent android app. Works great on both phones and tablets.

In the words of the developer:

Cannot stick to a routine or maintain New Year resolutions? This is a productivity app specifically designed to help with consistency, exploiting a tad of psychology.

This app asks you to translate a habit, say studying a foreign language for 20 minutes three time every week, into numbers to keep track of. That habit will be simply written as 3 sets of 20 reps per week. Or something without repetitions, like donate to a homeless person about once a day, will become 1 set of 1 rep per day. Then, after any work is done, you update with sets as well as additional reps completed. A running label shows you how many sets and reps you are ahead of your plan. Simple!

Many apps include things like to-do lists and reminders. However, there would be no consequence for doing or not doing the tasks in such apps. This app follows the assumption that it is inherently motivating to see oneself progress. The feature of this app is an easy way to keep track, giving oneself motivation to go more than necessary as well avoid losing ground. Use the urge to relax to actually get more work done!

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …
