FaceApp - despite the controversy there's a reason it is popular!

FaceApp is high in the ranks of then Google Play store at the moment, and despite the controversies of white-washing, there's a reason. In short, it's really fun, simple to use and an all round well-designed app that has some great filters and effects.
The purpose of the app is simple - simply load it up, take a photo, play with a few dials and then before you know it there's your desired outcome - whether it be a new gender, a younger self, an older self - etc. You name it - FaceApp can do it.
Check it out today, it's one of those apps well worth downloading and spending a few minutes with!

Scientific Camera

Today's app of the day is Scientific Camera.

Photography on mobile devices has advanced in leaps and bounds in recent years, with android devices now packing sensors and MP counts that rival that of point and click competitors. One thing that most phones have yet to fully embrace however is a lens based zooming system, with most mobiles featuring only a fixed lens.

This is of course incredibly frustrating, as zooming is often essential for framing the perfect shot, and cropping afterwards is frustrating when you are on the go. It is in these situations that digital zoom is a great solution, and Scientific Camera looks has embraced that functionality and taken it to the next level. When  hardware zoom runs out, Scientific Camera can still take you in 50 times closer (or 80 times on the free version) - allowing you to not only use the functionality to take some great shots, but also to use your phone as a magnifying glass or telescope!

At it's core, Scientific Camera is a fully functional camera app which includes all the bells and whistles you would expect. The killer function is of course the zoom, which really has to be seen to believe. If you look at the screen shots above and below you will see the level of detail that can be captured, even when zooming in from quite some distance

All in all, this is an excellent Android camera application, that has uses far beyond the standard application that comes pre installed on your device. Give Scientific Camera a go and I guarantee you will be impressed with the results!

In the words of the developer:

A powerful scientific super zoom camera also serves as a telescope, a magnifying glass or a flash light in dark.
When hardware zoom stops, digital zoom takes place, when digital zoom stops, imagination takes on. Small foot print, powerful concept (50 x for free version, 80 x virtual zoom power for pro version with live Tele-Mode). This app utilizes maximum megapixels with new 2k, 4k screen resolution technology.
The gallery is located under /Pictures/ScientificCamera.
1. The horizontal zoom bar represents the hardware camera's digital zoom.
2. The vertical zoom bar represents the virtual zoom power,
3. The focus box locks the virtual zoomed picture.
4. Hit the green "power zoom" button to take the shot.
On screen menu / context-menu for "Best Shot", "Effects" and "White Balance".
Flash-mode, auto / off / on / torch give user more choices in situations.
Wide angle mode with focus box make it easy to focus and take picture by default.
"Info Era" menu option to show google-glass, iwatch and Sci-Fi like "Geo Info" and "Weather Info" on upper right corner.
This digital camera idea is inspired by my childhood experience on building powerful telescopes with low powered lens.

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Cosmic Cow

Today's app of the day is Cosmic Cow.

"Endless" games are very in vogue at the moment, whether it be endless running, endless jumping or endless flapping, there are plenty of ways to get unlimited, and challenging gaming fixes. That doesn't mean that there aren't great new games being created in the genre, with Cosmic Cow being one such example.

In essence, Cosmic Cow combines two great styles of game play, one being a side scrolling endless-type game, and the other being the classic side scrolling space ship shooter, popularised in numerous incarnations on 8 and 16 bit consoles of decades past. As a "cosmic cow" (can't help but love it!), the player has to navigate through space, shooting or dodging asteroids and other attacking spaceships. The cow can collect a variety of objects to earn points - though mainly interesting foods that just happen to be floating through space. As points are accumulated, the player can also collect coins to spend on a v…
