Microsoft is actually a great Android developer - 'To-Do' is another reason why!

It may seem suprising to some, but Microsoft is actually a fantastic Android developer. In fact, I'd go as far to saythat their app offerings for Android are far superior to than their offerings for the Windows App store. For starters the full suite of Microsoft Office apps are great, as is one drive and one note, and the Arrow App Launcher is actually one of the best custom android skins available (seriously - check it out!).

To round this out, over the last few days Microsoft has released 'To-Do' which as you've guessed it - is a to-do list. It really could not be simpler - the app allows the creation of lists and then as part of each list allows tasks and items to be added.

The design is simple and clean, and a nice move away from the boxy interface design that still dominates some of the earlier Windows apps for android. It's fast, lightweight, cloud based (of course) and has a widget - so there is not much more you could ask for!

Of course there is lots of co…

Feed Speeder

Today's app of the day is Feed Speeder.

The concept of speed reading has been getting a lot of attention lately, with the yet to be released app 'Spritz" garnering a lot of attention for the promise it will allow users to read in 90 minutes by flashing words on the screen in quick succession, rather than placing them statically and making the eyes to the work of movement. Promises are good, but with the app yet to be released, the smart phone communality has been left waiting.... until now.

Welcome Feed Speeder, a speed reading app that takes the speed reading concept and applies it flawlessly to the most popular RSS feeds on the net, as well as any custom feeds you want to import. Now this all sounds quite complex and mystical, but if you check out the video above it all makes perfect sense. Once installed you can kiss goodbye slow reading speeds, and with a bit of training you will be capable of reading up to 1000 words a minute (or even more!)

The app itself is great, with a clean UI based on the latest google standards, making interaction and set up an absolute pleasure. The developer has conveniently included a list of popular RSS feeds so that even if you are new to the world of feeds, there will be content available for you to read within seconds. Everything is also highly customisable, meaning the size of the words to be read can be easily changes to suit your preference (with my preference being for it to be larger).

All in all, this is an excellent Android app. Now that it is installed on my device I do not see it being removed any time soon. It is quick, effective and cheap (only 99 cents) and sure to get all users flying through reading materials faster than ever before. Check it out now!

In the words of the developer:

Speed read your daily news faster than you ever thought possible. Pick your reading speed and watch the words flash on the screen. Seemingly upload your news feeds directly into your brain... "Matrix-style".
This method of reading will help you silence your "inner voice". Once you can read without saying each word in your head your reading speed will double, triple or more! Developing this ability will help you speed read normal articles, but once you use Feed Speeder, you'll never go back to reading the old fashioned way.
The average adult reads at around 300 words per minute. With Feed Speeder you will find that you can easily increase your speed and challenge yourself to read 600, 1200 even 2000 words per minute! Speed reading has never been easier.
Increase the number of words displayed by the speed reader to improve your speed reading even further, and adjust the font size to make reading comfortable.
Add your own feeds from news sites, blogs or other websites to get all the content you care about, literally, in seconds, completely free from the ever-present distractions.

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …
