Microsoft is actually a great Android developer - 'To-Do' is another reason why!

It may seem suprising to some, but Microsoft is actually a fantastic Android developer. In fact, I'd go as far to saythat their app offerings for Android are far superior to than their offerings for the Windows App store. For starters the full suite of Microsoft Office apps are great, as is one drive and one note, and the Arrow App Launcher is actually one of the best custom android skins available (seriously - check it out!).

To round this out, over the last few days Microsoft has released 'To-Do' which as you've guessed it - is a to-do list. It really could not be simpler - the app allows the creation of lists and then as part of each list allows tasks and items to be added.

The design is simple and clean, and a nice move away from the boxy interface design that still dominates some of the earlier Windows apps for android. It's fast, lightweight, cloud based (of course) and has a widget - so there is not much more you could ask for!

Of course there is lots of co…

Restaurant Expense Manager

Today's app of the day is Restaurant Expense Manager.

There is no doubt that people eat out more often then they used to. Whether it be fine dining at an al-a-carte restaurant, a satisfying pub meal or some burgers on the run from a fast food chain - there are so many dining options at so many price points that it is possible to never eat at home! Unfortunately, many people neglect the effect that such a lifestyle has on their 'bottom line', or in short, how it affects their wallet or purse.

To assist with this task, a great nee Android app is now available - Restaurant Expense Manager. In the age of the 'quantified self', this really is a timely addition to anyone's smart phone, allowing users to easily keep track of all their restaurant expenses. This is great for seeing how much is being spent on food whilst out and about, but also good for health purposes.

For example, a really great feature of the app is the ability to track how many drinks a user has consumed, which is done to great effect through the use of tally's on a visualized chalkboard (see the screen shorts below and you will see what I mean). For those who need to keep track of how much they have drunk for driving purposes, or are trying to reduce their alcohol intake generally, this is a great feature.

I have only listed a small array of the features, check out the screenshots, the video and the developers description (below) to really get a good idea of what is possible. Best of all, this app looks and feels great. It has been designed against from what appear to be the latest Google developer standards, which result in a really slick user experience. Everything just works as should be expected which is a real luxury!

All in all, this is an excellent android app - check it out!

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …
