FaceApp - despite the controversy there's a reason it is popular!

FaceApp is high in the ranks of then Google Play store at the moment, and despite the controversies of white-washing, there's a reason. In short, it's really fun, simple to use and an all round well-designed app that has some great filters and effects.
The purpose of the app is simple - simply load it up, take a photo, play with a few dials and then before you know it there's your desired outcome - whether it be a new gender, a younger self, an older self - etc. You name it - FaceApp can do it.
Check it out today, it's one of those apps well worth downloading and spending a few minutes with!

Mix Masters

Today's app of the day is Mix Masters.

Mix Masters is a fantastic new Android game from developer - Digitial Magician Games. It takes the music timing genre popularized by the likes of Guitar Hero and DJ Hero, and brings it to your portable device, allowing you mix up beats on the go in an attempt to get high scores.

The object is to scratch a virtual record backwards and forwards in time with music, as the arrows pass by a particular checkpoint on the screen. The more accurate the timing, the higher he score. As you progress through a variety of battles you can unlock new characters and music, keeping the game interesting and fresh.

The songs in Mix Masters are great, and really capture the energy of a live DJ battle. The game also looks great with crisp, cartoon-like graphics. Trust me, after undertaking the simple tutorial and playing a few rounds, you will be well and truly hooked by Mix Masters.

All in all, Mix Masters is a great Android game. Best of all, it is free, so you have…

2048

Today's app of the day is 2048.

It all started with the hit iOS game 3's, but then quickly spread to 5's and then to the most refined version of the 'sliding numbers' game - 2048. I'd imagine some my my readers have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about, so maybe I should take a step back. If you haven't checked out the app store on your Android device in a while you might be surprised to find quite a few games with simply numbered titles. These games, as in 2048, are all variations on a similar style of gameplay, which is fun, additive, and superbly refined in the case of the version I am recommending today - 2048 by ezStudios.

The gameplay of 2048 is simple. You start with a grid with a few select numbers on it (2's) that you slide together. Upon sliding the numbers together, they will combine into a single 4, but new numbers will then appear at randomly around the sides of the screen. The object is to continue to slide and double numbers to rea…

Digital Clock Widget

Today's app of the day is Digital Clock Widget.

In my opinion, widgets are one of the core features that set Android apart from lesser mobile operating systems such as iOS. They allow you to open a window into the applications on your phone at a glance, proving access to key features and functionality in an intuitive manner. A shining example of this is a great new Android application / widget - Digital Clock Widget.

As with all widgets, once installed you need to add it to one of your devices home screens. Once added you can then dive into the plethora of features that are offered. In a nutshell, the widgets offers a variety of different clock faces, from simple simulated LCD displays, to more playful clocks. Check out the screen shorts below and you will see what I mean.

This is only the start though. Although a clock is nice to have, the best feature is the intuitive row of quick launch apps that can be selected to launch both directly below the clock itself (as part of the widget…
