Microsoft is actually a great Android developer - 'To-Do' is another reason why!

It may seem suprising to some, but Microsoft is actually a fantastic Android developer. In fact, I'd go as far to saythat their app offerings for Android are far superior to than their offerings for the Windows App store. For starters the full suite of Microsoft Office apps are great, as is one drive and one note, and the Arrow App Launcher is actually one of the best custom android skins available (seriously - check it out!).

To round this out, over the last few days Microsoft has released 'To-Do' which as you've guessed it - is a to-do list. It really could not be simpler - the app allows the creation of lists and then as part of each list allows tasks and items to be added.

The design is simple and clean, and a nice move away from the boxy interface design that still dominates some of the earlier Windows apps for android. It's fast, lightweight, cloud based (of course) and has a widget - so there is not much more you could ask for!

Of course there is lots of co…

Tap the Ballz

Today's app of the day is Tap the Ballz.

The android platform is home to 1000s of great games, with many of the most popular mobile games such as Angry Birds, Candy Crush and Fruit Ninja sitting near the top of the play store rankings. These are the tried and tests mobile gaming classics. Every now and then though, a new game comes along with a fresh twist on mobile gaming, giving players something unique to try - when they get it right you know that there will be countless imitators. Tap the Ballz is one such game - a brilliant, fresh new Android game that I can not recommend enough.

As with all great mobile games, the rules are simple. In short, you have to touch the balls. You so not dot touch the stones. With this simple very simple mechanic in mind, you can explore three different game modes of bright and cornflour addictiveness. The Classic mode is a good place to get started, where you will race the clock to get personal best timings on tapping 25 or 50 balls. This is how I started and after one or two attempts, I was hooked. From there you can move onto Zen Mode (touch as many balls within a specified time limit), and Arcade mode (touch as many balls as possible before running out of lives).

All three game modes work on the same simple formula of touching balls, not stones. This may sound like a pretty ridiculous concept, but the execution is perfect with a simple menu system, great graphics, but most importantly, fantastic gameplay. I am the type of person who doesn't mind competing against my own personal bests but with on line leader boards and  social network connectivity, it is easy to try and be the best amongst your friends.

What Tap the Ballz does best is to keep things simple. That's what users want on their mobile device, and the developer (Tip Top Games) has delivered in spades. Check out Tab the Ballz today - you will not be disappointed!

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …

UNCHARTED: Fortune Hunter - continue Drake's adventure on your phone!

It's been a while now since Uncharted 4 was released though to date it is still one of the best games on the PS4. At the time of its release, a lot of people might not have noticed that an Android entry into the Uncharted series was also released. Now I'm late to the party on this one but I think it's well worth checking out - better late than never!

The game is in the style of the 'Go' games that are really popular, such as Hitman Go and Lara Croft Go. The gameplay sees you move from square to square on a map trying to unlock a series of objectives or reach a destination. It's a polished game with great sound, graphics and gameplay. Strongly recommended!
