Microsoft is actually a great Android developer - 'To-Do' is another reason why!

It may seem suprising to some, but Microsoft is actually a fantastic Android developer. In fact, I'd go as far to saythat their app offerings for Android are far superior to than their offerings for the Windows App store. For starters the full suite of Microsoft Office apps are great, as is one drive and one note, and the Arrow App Launcher is actually one of the best custom android skins available (seriously - check it out!).

To round this out, over the last few days Microsoft has released 'To-Do' which as you've guessed it - is a to-do list. It really could not be simpler - the app allows the creation of lists and then as part of each list allows tasks and items to be added.

The design is simple and clean, and a nice move away from the boxy interface design that still dominates some of the earlier Windows apps for android. It's fast, lightweight, cloud based (of course) and has a widget - so there is not much more you could ask for!

Of course there is lots of co…

Halloween Kid Counter

Today's app of the day is Halloween Kid Counter.

With Halloween fast approaching, no doubt everyone is well and truly into the planning phase. For some, that surely means going out and trying to buy the most outrageous costume ever. For others iot may involve decorating the house and carving pumpkins, and for others, it means heading to the supermarket and buying outrageous amounts of candy.

With this in mind, plus the recent trend for everything and everyone embracing the concept of the 'quantified self' comes a great new Android app called Halloween Kid Counter. After installing the app, Halloween Kid Counter allows you to easily keep track of how many 'trick or treaters' knock on your door on Halloween night. This could be useful for those who like to keep track of the number of visitors they have every year.

And that's about it. This is a simple app that does one thing and does it well. On top of being able to keep track of the number of attendees every year, it also allows you to associate a picture with every year. This is a nice extra feature. Interestingly, I actually see uses for this app beyond the Halloween uses, as it is a simple app that allow easy counting across a variety of years, With the ability to customise the background image for a particular year, I imagine people finding ongoing uses.

All in  all, an interesting app worth checking out.

In the words of the developer:

This simple app allows you to keep track of the number of children that have visited you for Halloween. You can associate a photo of your Halloween decorations with each year of data that you store in the app.
You can also enter historical Halloween data if you choose to.
Click the + or - buttons to increase or decrease the child count.
Click the left or right arrow buttons to go to the previous or next year respectfully.

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …
