Netflix and Android - chromecast, downloading, profiles - close to perfection!

Netflix and Android have always had a great relationship, but over recent years the app has really gone from strength to strength. The interface is fantastic and the feature set continues to grow in meaningful ways, making it one of my must-have apps.
The first example that comes to mind is obviously Chromecast support. Now this isn’t a Netflix exclusive option, and it is supported well in many media apps, but Netflix and Chromecast work so seamlessly well together that I struggle to think about how I survived before the pairing existed!
Next is the newly integrated ‘Download’ option, which allows users to download content and watch it on the go without a data connection.  Honestly, Netflix kicked it out of the park with this one – it could not be easier to use, it includes all the right settings (save to SD, definition quality control, etc) – and best of all it is all within the existing price brackets. I almost feel they could have charged extra for this service alone – but am ext…

Number Chef

Today's app of the day is Number Chef.

Number Chef is a great android app from developer Roope Rainisto, and is an entirely fresh type of game! The game play loop is incredibly simple, but devilishly difficult. To play users need to combine two numbers. If a number is combined on top of an odd number, those two numbers add together. If a number is combined on top of an even number, those numbers are subtracted. With these numbers, the goal is to reach a number of targets (or orders - hence being a number 'chef') in each level, such as 10, 14, 15, etc. It may sound a little abstract in words, but it shouldn't take the average player very long to work things out.

I spent a few hours with the game and managed to breeze through some of the initial levels, but trust me, if you like a challenge - then this is a the game for you. Number Chef really requires you to think in an abstract way that many players may not be used to. In my opinion, this is great, as all too often mobile games are just rehashes of what already exists. For Number Chef - it is refreshing to see something new and entirely unique.

Other than the inventive game play, the other thing that really stood out to me is how great the game looks. The backgrounds are beautiful, mixing simplistic designs with bold colors, with a very 'material'' feel about everything. This should please most android gamers! The sounds are also great - not overbearing but effective which is exactly what you want in a game such as this that requires a fair degree of concentration.

In short, this is a great android app well worth checking out. It's great to see developers trying something new and with Number Chef, everything truly adds up! Check it out!

In the words of the developer:

* "Intriguing...yet tough-as-nails" - iFanZine
* "While the levels and gameplay may seem easy, it definitely isn't." - DroidGamers

Number Chef is a brainburner puzzle game that is based on a completely new gameplay mechanic, one that rewards skill and careful thinking.
The game might look simple: odd numbers add and even numbers subtract - drag and combine tiles together to fulfill the goals of each level… but you will very quickly figure the problem to be anything but simple.
You know how some games seem to make it sure that you cannot complete a level no matter how well you play that round? In Number Chef, each level is always solvable on the first try... If you just think hard enough!
Number Chef is also stripped free of many annoyances – it doesn’t beg for your money or tease you with mechanisms that make you wait to be able to play more.
Great for all ages - what are you waiting for?
Who says there are no new game ideas anymore?
Each of the 150 levels a carefully handcrafted and fine-tuned puzzle. Each level is solvable on the first try – if you’re just smart enough! Most levels can be solved in multiple ways, some in a *very* creative manner.
If you’re a fan of easy games, Number Chef is perhaps not for you. The challenge constantly builds up with new game pieces appearing in each episode.
There is no Pay to Win in Number Chef. The game doesn’t try to prompt to buy consumable coins after every level, or frustrate you with energy bars, impossible levels, slowly recharging lives or level timers.

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Hearthstone - better late than never - the best android card game!

I'll cut to it - Hearthstone is one of the best games you can get for your Android device - in fact, I am sure that plenty of people would argue it is one of the best games you can get at all - even on a PC! With that in mind, there's no reason not to jump in now and start experiencing this great offering from Blizzard.
The gameplay is turn based card strategy, think Magic the Gathering, but fare more simple. Every turn the number of points you have to spend on cards increases, so it means that games start quite evenly handed but can escalate quickly, especially when more experienced players know how to string together the abilities of their cards.
The objective is to eliminate the health of your opponent - and once you succeed the victory is entirely satisfying, with some truly fantastic sounds and effects that drive home the sense of achievement. This is of course a free to play game, and it is possible to spend real world money in the store but it is not required to have …
