The Mobile Revolution and Online Poker Sites

Poker on the internet has seen a mini boom with the shift in prominence of mobile users on the web. For many, this shift came fast. In fact, there was a 394% increase in Smartphone usage from December 2010 through to December 2014. On May 05th 2015 Google announced that more Google searches were taking place on mobile devices than on computers in 10 countries including giants such as Japan and the US. They also reiterated that expectation levels amongst mobile users was higher than ever. It was no surprise that Google investment in mobile was a focus, driven by high consumer expectations for 'immediacy and relevance in the moment'.
The online poker industry took a massive hit in the US with alleged crimes of the major offshore operators in 2011, known as Black Friday. This led to a US Federal criminal case (United States v. Scheinberg) against the founders of the three largest online poker companies, PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Cereus (which consisted of Absolute Poker and UltimateBet). The result was a raft of changes across the industry that ultimately resulted in more secure and regulated environment.
Five years on, the trend surge with mobile users led poker sites to develop mobile friendly platforms to support the growing number of mobile users. Those that didn't ride the shift trend were left taking on water whilst those that accommodated consumer needs have added to their appeal - some considerably. This certainly recovered some traffic lost in the wake of Black Friday which saw a dramatic loss of traffic, sites closed and  the loss of players in the US.
How is the traffic split between Android and IOS and how have poker rooms accommodated each subset of users?
Nearly all of the top ranked poker sites have developed apps that are compatible with iPhone and Android handsets users - largely as they make up the biggest subsets of users. Until recently, Android users were the biggest population of mobile users with over 50% of the market, followed by iPhone users who accounted for just over 35% of the total.
Poker Sites offering the Best Android & IOS Apps
There are some great apps in the market. The big players have invested in appealing, functional apps that keep players playing on the go. With supporting data such as that provided by Ofcom ( the UK independent regulator for the communications industry) showed that over 60% of adults in the UK owned a Smartphone and nearly 30% of households owned at least one tablet computer - creating the right app was seen as crucial to business success. Most of the big hitters have delivered great apps for all their consumers mobile needs.
The best apps in the market have been created by the big brands of PokerStars, Party Poker, 888Poker, bet365 Poker, TitanBet Poker, William Hill Poker and Sky Poker. You can find details of these sites and more at who review the best online poker sites.
Getting started is straight forward and risk free. You can download apps for free and try the app out for free, taking advantage of the free tables that are on offer. With a 'try before you buy' policy across every major site, you have every chance of finding the app best suited to your poker needs.

Wish - shopping made fun - and easy - and cheap!

These days sites like Amazon or eBay make buying and selling online quick and easy. Unfortunately, sometimes the sheer breadth of products available (everything on earth!) makes it difficult to impulse buy or get the same experience one haves when wandering around a shop or past windows. Luckily, apps now exist to replicate that experience.

The best of the lot is Wish - which has the tagline 'shopping made fun' which could not be more true! When opening the app there are lots of categories to choose from, allowing you to pick the type of products you want to browse and going from there. Buying and checking out is only ever a few clicks away and if you are not careful you will very quickly load up on more products than you need!

I've launched sites that help out with buying cheap gadgets in the past, and it was heavily inspired by apps such as Wish which really allow someone to sit back and take pleasure in the shopping experience again! Download Wish now!

Cosmic Cow

Today's app of the day is Cosmic Cow.

"Endless" games are very in vogue at the moment, whether it be endless running, endless jumping or endless flapping, there are plenty of ways to get unlimited, and challenging gaming fixes. That doesn't mean that there aren't great new games being created in the genre, with Cosmic Cow being one such example.

In essence, Cosmic Cow combines two great styles of game play, one being a side scrolling endless-type game, and the other being the classic side scrolling space ship shooter, popularised in numerous incarnations on 8 and 16 bit consoles of decades past. As a "cosmic cow" (can't help but love it!), the player has to navigate through space, shooting or dodging asteroids and other attacking spaceships. The cow can collect a variety of objects to earn points - though mainly interesting foods that just happen to be floating through space. As points are accumulated, the player can also collect coins to spend on a v…
